Our principal aim for our dogs is improvement of their quality of life while they are with us. Our ultimate goal is adoption. Rescue, for us, does not end when the dog is safely at our facility, but when each finds a stable, loving, forever home.

OUR MISSION

  • Our rescue was founded by a group of friends 2009. We saw a strong need for advocates for Pit Bulls in our community. Overpopulation, abandonment, homelessness, discrimination, and cruelty are all serious issues facing this "breed" in Lubbock and across the nation. We will always have a love for the bully breed and will continue to help them, but Saving Grace Rescue LBK helps every breed of dog. Our mission is the following:

    * Alleviate suffering through rescue and adoption into loving, stable, reliable forever homes

    * Assist the Lubbock City shelter and those in surrounding communities

    * Provide education to the community with emphasis on the importance of spay/neuter, microchipping, vaccination, and "breed" perception

We envision a time when loving and protective homes are in ample supply for all dogs and bully breeds are no longer subjected to discrimination and cruelty because they are misunderstood and forgotten. Our belief here at Saving Grace is that quality education will inspire hope and promote change. Change through education, open dialogue, and partnership with other community agencies is one of our primary goals.

Our principal aim for our dogs is improvement of their quality of life while they are with us. Our ultimate goal is adoption. Rescue, for us, does not end when the dog is safely at our facility, but when each finds a stable, loving, forever home.

Paws & Think: Education

  • REGULAR VET CARE: All dogs should be spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped.

TRAINING: Training helps you maintain control of your dog and offers your dog mental stimulation. For more information contact www.goodwolff.com.

SOCIALIZATION: This is crucial in maintaining a dog with sound temperament. Expose your dog to a variety of experiences based on their comfort level.

OWNERSHIP IS A COMMITTMENT FOR LIFE: A good owner will not easily give up or attempt to rehome a dog when life changes occur.

KNOW THE BREED: Educate yourself on characteristics of the breed you are adopting. People frequently forget the role genetics play in forming a dog's personality. It's not just how "how they're raised". Knowing the traits of a breed will prepare you to control behavior and to appropriately meet the dog's needs. Recognize that a dog may react to different situations in different ways. Being a good owner is not a matter of changing the dogs' inbred characteristics, but EDUCATING yourself, ACCEPTING them, and MANAGING them responsibly.

OBEY ALL LOCAL AND STATE ORDINANCES: Follow city/state rules on vaccination, licensing, and registration.

PROMOTE A POSITIVE IMAGE: Do not give people a reason to maintain negative opinions of any breed.
